Carriage Parade

"Downtown" Parker has a Carriage Parade every year, but this is the first time we've been able to go because it has always been right at Laina's naptime. It was still at her naptime, but we figured she is old enough now that getting her nap a little later than normal wouldn't be such a big deal. She did have a ton of fun but was pretty cranky when we got home!

The fun started off with a pony ride and a petting zoo.

The petting zoo started off with typical barnyard animals such as goats, sheep, a miniature horse and a giant bunny. But we were wowed by the presence of some Nativity scene animals like the baby camel below! Laina wasn't too sure of it at first, but it was pretty gentle and eventually she decided it would be ok to feed it some treats.

Below is the cutest shaggy donkey, and Laina having a pony ride.

The carriages, wagons, sleighs and horses came in all different shapes and sizes, from the smallest pony (who is dressed as a wind-up toy) and sleigh to the biggest draft horse and wagon! And below, a nice matched pair of medium-sized fancy horses and carriage, which were my favorite.

Above, Laina getting a better view. Below, Laina's favorite, one of the marching bands (she talked about horns and tubas all the way home) and a dog she thought was Ella. All in all a very fun time and hopefully the beginning of a family tradition.
