My first onslaught of research was mostly yielding lots of info linking thimerosal with autism and other diseases. There is a lot of stuff claiming thimerosal and the MMR vaccine contribute to the growing population of autistic children. Today I did some research on the CDC website and others. Here is a link to the studies that have been done regarding the subject:
http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/autism/documents/vaccine_studies.pdf
The chart may be a bit out of date as I found elsewhere the results of the study at the top of the second page (at least it sounded like the same study). Those also showed no relationship between thimerosal and neurological developmental disorders. What also may be out of date is a lot of the info I found that does speculate the link between autism and vaccines. Most of that info said there have been no studies on the matter. Clearly there have been, and it looks like they began back in Nov 2002 (which granted, isn't that long ago).
So maybe all my concern and worry is unmerited. I would still rather take things cautiously. There are still the 2 books that I am anxiously awaiting. I have requested them at the library and am in 3rd and 5th waiting place for them. Here are links to the books on Amazon:
What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Children's Vaccinations
The Vaccine Book: Making the Right Decision for Your Child
The first one is by Dr Stephanie Cave who is a family practitioner who specializes in children with autism. The second book is by Dr Sears who is a well-known pediatrician. Neither one are very expensive, but I'd like to check them out from the library first to see if they are worth purchasing. So hopefully my number will come up quickly on them so I can get on with my research.

I'm impressed! Hey can I just glean info from you? I'll research cool toys for Christmas and tell you what I find. :)
